A Unique
Place
Stanford Research Park has a dual mission — to promote the commercialization of R&D by bridging the gap between academia and industry while generating income to support the University’s academic mission.
Fostering
Synergies
Promoting Modern Research & Development
Stanford University’s ownership of Stanford Research Park enables us to play a strategic role in curating the tenancy, promoting diversity across industry sectors, embracing entrepreneurs and companies at varying stages of growth, and building a broad array of R&D spaces for companies to lease.
Bridging the Academic & Industry Gap
We host events designed to connect our tenants with resources unique to our location. Our proximity to and affiliation with Stanford University provides our community with access to a pool of professors, researchers, and potential employees that rivals any place in the world.

Jennifer Cochran
This Stanford scientist and professor took a leave of absence to launch her own companies. She returned determined to make it easier for her colleagues to follow the same path. Once again, she’s walking the walk.

He’s been integral to helping the Stanford Innovative Medicines Accelerator build strategic external alliances—something that has come more readily, since the accelerator located in Stanford Research Park’s Life Science District.
Focus On
Transportation
Stanford University and Stanford Research Park employers work together to offer valuable information and services to make commute trips easier and better for the planet. Throughout 2024 we have assisted commuters with news, information, and programs related to public transit, shuttles from the Stanford University campus and Caltrain stations, carpool and vanpool programs, as well as providing incentives and support for people who bicycle to work.
2024 was an especially exciting year with the start of electrified Caltrain commuter rail service in September. Stanford enhanced shuttle service to the Palo Alto Transit Center and added new service to the California Avenue station to meet additional trains and increase Caltrain ridership.
Our 2024 commute survey revealed that transit use by Stanford Research Park commuters has surpassed 2019 levels and the percentage of employees who bicycle to work has more than doubled. After a year of steady growth, 29 vanpools now transport commuters from throughout the Bay Area to worksites in Stanford Research Park.
One of our most popular events is our annual Bike to Work breakfast each May, where bike commuters gather in the morning to connect with each other and enjoy a hearty breakfast on us. In 2024 we built on this momentum by hosting monthly breakfasts for Research Park bicycle commuters from June through October.
Stanford Research Park participates in Palo Alto Link (PAL). A program of the City of Palo Alto, PAL is a rideshare option that lets you book rides directly from a mobile app or by making a phone call. Get picked up in a sleek eco-friendly vehicle to go shopping, dining, run errands, commute, or get to appointments within Palo Alto — all without needing to drive your own car.
